My Rating System

Many people have a standard rating for film and books. Some people are much harsher (for example, Denver, my boyfriend) while others are more lenient (for example, me) when rating media. This is a basic explanation of my rating system, and how I determine what is a 5 star versus what is a 1 star.

Rating: 5 out of 5.

One of my all-time favorites. Beautiful. Fantastic. Wonderful. This wins every award from me and I will recommend this to anyone that breathes!

Rating: 4 out of 5.

So close, but there is something amiss that I can’t ignore. Overall, I really liked this and will recommend it if it fits what someone is looking for.

Rating: 3 out of 5.

It’s okay. No major complaints, but something is not clicking with me.

Rating: 2 out of 5.

Hm. I do not like this. It was hard to get through. If you love this, then cool. Love that for you, but I don’t love it.

Rating: 1 out of 5.

I did not finish this, and if I did then it was out of spite. If you love this, I love that for you, but I hate it.

As mentioned before, I am a bit more lenient and am not insanely harsh when watching or reading a movie. The most important thing is that I had a good time and that I enjoyed it. Some books and movies do not deserve a 5 star rating, but if I loved it and found it enjoyable then it’s more than likely a 5 star.

It’s important that you loved it. It doesn’t matter what I, or anyone else, rates it. If you love it then I love that for you!
