My Review:ย I have been wanting to watch this movie for such a long time. Denver and I had talked about it, but it never seemed like the right time to watch it since it is kind of anxiety inducing. However, one day Denver randomly put it on and I was not disappointed!
I really enjoyed that it made me feel tense and on edge the entire time. The way it makes you feel is similar to Whiplash, which I think was hard to replicate. There are some movies that don’t keep me engaged emotionally, but this would not let up. It continued to raise the stakes the entire time. When you think something is bad, something worse get placed on top. And when you think that is bad, something worse happens! It is overwhelming, but in a good way. Many of the characters talk over one another, which could be easy to get lost in, but I found that this added an extra layer to the tension I was feeling.
You cannot overlook Adam Sandler’s role in this, either. I haven’t seen him in something other than a comedy, so seeing him in a drama, was different. He blew me out of the water with his performance as it is very different from his silly goofy characters that are often depicted by Sandler.
Would I Recommend This Movie?
100% yes! I do not think you can go wrong with watching this, especially if you have watched and enjoyed Whiplash. I do think you need to be in the mood to watch this movie, but it was just so good! Plus… Adam Sandler. How can you not want to watch?
