Another month, another set of exciting new releases! So many of these upcoming movies, TV shows, and book launches are heading straight to my “to be watched” and “to be read” lists. Sadly, there’s never enough time in the world to devour everything!
May is packed with must-watch films and highly anticipated books. While I’m pretty sure I’ll get to at least two of the movies this month, I might not have time to dive into the books—but that won’t stop me from keeping tabs on them! Without further ado, here’s what’s on my radar this month:
🎬 Movies Releasing in May 2025
Thunderbolts*, 2025 – In Theatres, May 02
I love when Marvel leans into its goofy side—especially with Sebastian Stan in the mix! I will always support his work, and you can bet I will be seated for this.
Field of Screams, 2025 – In Theatres, May 06
A horror movie with a gripping premise? Say less. I’m hoping this thriller delivers the suspense I’ve been craving.
Nonnas, 2025 – Netflix, May 09
Just reading the synopsis gave me warm, fuzzy feelings. I’m expecting this to be a wholesome, heartwarming gem.
Friendship, 2025 – Streaming, May 09
Denver showed me the trailer and I’ve been counting down ever since. The anticipation is real!
Lilo & Stitch, 2025 – In Theatres, May 23
Live-action remakes usually aren’t my thing, but this one feels surprisingly true to the original. I’m excited to see Stitch bring the chaos!
The Last Rodeo, 2025 – Streaming, May 23
I’m not familiar with Joe Wainwright, but the dramatic documentary vibe caught my attention. Right up my alley!
📺 TV Shows to Watch in May 2025
Poker Face: Season 2 – Streaming on Prime
This mystery series has been on my watchlist forever. I still haven’t started Season 1, but I’m excited to see the story continue!

The Missing Half by Ashley Flowers – Releases May 06
A suspenseful whodunit? Yes, please! This one is giving me all the thriller feels.

Romance hasn’t been my genre lately, but the unique plot of this one makes me hopeful for a rekindled love affair with rom-coms.
The Original Daughter, Jemimah Wei – Releases May 06
This debut novel is a historical fiction centered on an Asian family—and I’m genuinely so hyped for it! Might even preorder…
Consider Yourself Kissed, Jessica Stanley – Releases May 27
Another romance? Guilty. Even though I’m in a romance rut, the blurb totally hooked me.
The Names, Florence Knapp – Releases May 06
A historical fiction with a mysterious twist—I couldn’t resist adding it to my TBR.
The Martha’s Vineyard Beach and Book Club, Martha Hall Kelly – Releases May 27
Drawn in by the beautiful cover, I stayed for the story: a wartime book club for women. Yes, yes, yes.
Words for My Comrades, Dean Van Nguyen – Releases May 06
This political nonfiction explores the life and legacy of Tupac Shakur. I struggle with nonfiction, but this one feels like a must-read.
