Mid-Year Reading Recap

Written by

I’ve been on the lookout for more bookish tags that I could join in on and I saw that A Book Owls Corner had done the Mid-Year Book Freak Out Tag and thought I’d join in! It is a tradition in the book community to wrap up the first half of the year and since I’m a part of the book community… I just had to do it! Duh!

Best Book You’ve Read So Far in 2025?

This is a tough one for me because I keep thinking about Before We Were Innocent by Ella Berman and Haven’t Killed In Years by Amy K. Green! I loved both of them so much and are the pinnacle of storytelling when it comes to a mystery!

Best Sequel You’ve Read So Far in 2025?

I don’t read books within a series, so I have to say Onyx Storm by Rebecca Yarros. Although I did take a break from it, I’m not mad at it. I just… Needed a break. It’s a lot of words!

A New Release You Haven’t Read Yet, But Want To?

Atmosphere by Taylor Jenkins Reid!! I am such a lover of TJR and am extremely excited to read this one! I know it was released recently, and it’s probably one of my most anticipated reads for 2025!

Most Anticipated Release for the Second Half of 2025?

Semi-Well-Adjusted Despite Literally Everything: A Memoir by Alyson Stoner. I grew up watching Alyson Stoner and every time a child star releases a memoir, I am sat and ready to read!

Biggest Disappointment?

Spiral by Bal Khabra. I loved Collide, but maybe it’s time for Khabra and me to break up. I will read the third installment and decide whether or not I want to break up with her after that but for now… I will continue to be disappointed.

Biggest Surprise?

Project: Hail Mary by Andy Weir! I have never been into sci-fi, but this one… Yeah, this is it! I don’t feel stupid, I feel like I’m learning and I’m entertained the entire time while growing attached to Rocky!

New Favorite Author?

Andy Weir! I’m hoping to read The Martian next year to continue my reading streak with him!

Book That Made You Cry?

My Next Breath by Jeremy Renner. There were so many times when I shed a few tears and could feel my heartbreaking. No matter if I was in the gym, driving, or sitting at home… My heart broke and tears were shed!

Book That Made You Happy?

The Devil & Mrs. Davenport by Paulette Kennedy! The story is an emotional rollercoaster but the ending made me so extremely happy!

Favorite Book to Movie Adaption You’ve Seem So Far This Year?

Okay, I haven’t read a book that has been given a movie adaption in years… BUT, I will say that Mickey 17, was such a good movie and I am hoping I can read the books before rewatching Mickey 17!

Favorite Post You’ve Written This Year?

I think my review on Challengers (2024)! I had been wanting to watch Challengers for a while by this point, and I had a lot of opinions that I’m glad I could share!

Most Beautiful Book You Bought This Year?

Oh, this is a hard one! Denver bought me the special edition of Onyx Storm by Rebecca Yarros and I think it is so beautiful, but I also have the special edition of Beach Read by Emily Henry… I think I have to go with Onyx Storm! It is just so freaking pretty!

What Books Do You Really Need To Read By The End Of The Year?

I have a long list! But here are some of them!

  1. My Husband by Maud Ventura and Emma Eamadan
  2. Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin
  3. One Last Stop by Casey McQuiston

And so! Much! More! You can read more about my 2025 TBR here!

Well… This was fun! I hope you find something interesting in this! Let me know what your favorite book of this year has been!
