This was a show I did not expect to love, but here we are — obsessed. I’ve got a special place in my heart for James Gunn, and since he left Marvel for DC, it feels like he’s been let off the leash in the best way. The creativity is off the charts.
I’ve never been huge on adult animation or the DCU in general, but Creature Commandos is a win on both fronts. It’s this weird, perfect mix of action, dark comedy, and gut-punch emotional moments. One minute I’m laughing, the next I’m crying over Weasel’s backstory like… be serious.
Every character stands out and feels genuinely loved by the writers and animators. You’re introduced to them like, “Okay, but they’re still villains,” and then bam—you’re thrown into their origin stories. Suddenly you get it. Suddenly you feel things.
(Except Weasel. I think he’s just a little freak forever. And I love that for him.)
The writing is fast-paced and witty without taking itself too seriously, which keeps it so entertaining. The animation? Stylish as hell. Visually, it’s doing things.™
It’s damn near impossible to finish an episode and not find yourself rooting for at least one of these chaotic monster misfits.
Final Verdict on Creature Cammandos
Absolutely worth the watch. If you’re into unexpected underdogs, found family, and monster mayhem with heart, dive in ASAP. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, and you’ll be begging for Season 2 by the end.
