2026 Hopefuls: Books and Movies I Want to Make Time For

Every year, I come up with the brilliant idea of creating a short list of books I want to read… I almost never complete it. Something about saying “I want to read this” makes me… not want to read it? But here we are; 2026 is in full swing, and as you read, I am going to tell you about my hopefuls. So here are the films and books I want to make time for this year.

Hopeful Movies

  1. Project Hail Mary (2026): This will be a given. I will be watching this. And I will be crying.
  2. Bugonia (2025): I’ve seen hit or miss reviews, but Emma Stone… right?
  3. Moonlight (2016): In 2016, I wasn’t nearly as involved in actually watching movies. I am determined to watch this in 2026!
  4. The Godfather (1972): I know, I know! How have I NOT watched this classic? Well, it is my mission to finally watch it this year!
  5. (Rewatch) Parasite (2019): I believe this will be my fourth or fifth time watching it, but Denver needs to be introduced to it.
  6. (Rewatch) Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004): I’ve rated this 5/5 stars before and now it is time to rewatch and decide if I am right.

Hopeful Reads

  1. Red Rising by Pierce Brown: I have the hardback… Now it’s just to actually read it.
  2. Half His Age by Jennette McCurdy: The newest release from Jennette has the internet going crazy, and it’s something I am hoping to read this year!
  3. Semi-Well-Adjusted-Despite-Literally-Everything by Alyson Stoner: Probably one of the must read memoirs I want to read this year.
  4. Valley of the Dolls by Jacqueline Susann: Released in 1966, I’ve been told that I need to read this… Thus it is here.
  5. Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë: With the 2026 film coming out, I feel like I have to read this… They keep saying it is like… the best romance novel. I will put that to the test.

Woot! Woot! I feel like this is a soft, low-pressure media list for 2026, right? Hopefully, since these lists are so short, I will actually watch all of them for once! Anyway… tell me what you hope to experience, and I’ll see ya later!
