Summary

With Daredevil in hiding, the manhunt continues for the vigilante. Wilson Fisk tries a new approach in getting Daredevil, aka Matthew Murdock, out of hiding and in the streets of New York.

Recap

After Bullseye (Wilson Bethel) saved Matt of screen, we get to see him back in flesh and blood, but he’s a little… off. He’s acting as if he is Daredevil’s guardian, protecting him at every turn. However, he doesn’t seem to want to cause harm to Matt or his loved ones as he targets the AVTF who come for Cherry at the hospital.

It’s exciting to see Wilson Bethel as Bullseye again, and it feels like he is getting the chance to further expand Dex. After meeting Bethel at Galaxycon in 2024, it is especially exciting!

The AVTF continues to be a representation of current events in the United States as was shown in the sequence where Soledad (Ashley Marie Ortiz) and Angela (Camila Rodriguez), the wife and neice of late Hector Ayala/White Tiger, getting caught up in an escalated series of events at the bodega. It’s hard to watch, but even harder to look away at the parallels between the AVTF and their power trip, and the United States own version of AVTF.

It is satisfying, however, to watch Daredevil kick some AVTF ass when they tried to take Josie. It’s also satisfying when Angela took Hector’s amulet, hinting at her taking over the White Tiger identity, as done in the comics.

Vanessa (Ayelet Zurer) has a dream full of fog where Dex is hunting her. It’s fun, but also a bit weird on the heels of Heather’s Muse visions. This dream pushes Vanessa to suggest that she and Fisk leave New York, which is a shift from the character developed in Season 1.

Is it a surprise that BB is making the Mayor Kingpin videos? No, it was obvious. Her and Daniel’s conversation adds additional character development to him.

He is scared of Fisk, obviously. He wants her to stop making these videos, he knows its her, but continues to protect her. I liked their scene in his apartment, and I enjoyed seeing him uncomfortable around Fisk. It seems like he is finally seeing what is in front of him, but is still wanting the materialistic things rather than valuing his own morals.

The conversation between Fisk and Buck regarding Daredevil and Matt, was interesting. Instead of making the entirety of New York hate Matt, he is actively sending a look party to find him. He’s playing the long game.

It is a clever move on Fisk to revel that Matt is, in fact, alive. Fisk’s logic makes sense: Matt saved Fisk, telling the public that Matt is Daredevil could complicate the matter.

Overall, Episode 2 was great! I’m glad that both Tony Dalton and Wilson Bethel are getting the chance to play their respective characters!
