‘Beach Read’ by Emily Henry is about polar opposite writers, January Andrews and Augustus Everett who’s only common interest is that they are staying in the same neighborhood for the next three months. Both broke, in beach houses with writer’s block. One thing leads to another and a deal is struck that forces them from their creative ruts: January will pen the opposite of a happily ever after, and Augustus will write something happy. They will help one another finish a book, and no one will fall in love.

My Review: Honestly, I genuinely really liked this book. Being a hopeless romantic, I can’t help but to love a book about love. Especially when it is an enemies to lovers, close proximity love story!
I enjoyed Emily Henry’s writing and enjoyed the plot of it. It didn’t feel like there was too much going on, in regards to plot so I didn’t feel overwhelmed to keep up with plot points, or easter eggs that had been dropped. Both Augustus and January are going through their own emotional journey, which feels relatable.
The only thing that did hinder my reading was how long it was. It felt like it dragged, even though the writing itself didn’t make it feel like it dragged. The chapters just felt impossible to get through and I kept putting it down because I didn’t think I’d get through it. But I did. I made it, and I did really like it.
Would I Recommend This Book?
Yes, I would. However, I think you would need to enjoy romance and not want anything else (i.e. not coming in with the thought that this would be a dark romance, or fantasy romance. It is a straight up romance.)
