My Thoughts
This is a shorter review because it’s an action movie! What more can you say beyond the action and plot?
I’ve enjoyed the Mission: Impossible movies I’ve seen and The Final Reckoning didn’t disappoint! The action is nonstop, the plot is wild and addicting, and the chemistry between Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise), Luther Stickell (Ving Rhames), and Benji Dunn (Simon Pegg) continues to be a highlight! Like the previous 7 films, this one is packed with intense sequences, well-timed humor, and a solid story that keeps you hooked. It doesn’t even feel like an almost three-hour movie β it flies by!
I loved seeing Paris (Pom Klementieff) again! She was a standout from Dead Reckoning, and I was so happy she returned β especially since she switched sides and is now helping Ethan and his crew! That character arc made my day!
Hannah Waddingham, Tramell Tillman, and Nick Offerman were fun additions! I am a big fan of all three for different reasons, so seeing them pop up made me genuinely happy! Their scenes were a joy. And Angela Bassett! She appeared in The Final Reckoning too, and I adore her. She’s phenomenal in 9-1-1, so I was thrilled to see her in this.
And yes… I cried during this movie. It’s an action film β what could make me cry? Easy: I get emotionally attached to side characters, and we lost one of my favorites. Of course, I cried. Duh!
Overall, The Final Reckoning was a huge improvement over Dead Reckoning. I understand that Dead Reckoning was produced post-COVID and after a writer’s strike, but it had its challenges. The Final Reckoning made up for the downfalls in Death Reckoning.
Also, Tom Cruise. That man is something else. He never turns down a stunt, no matter how dangerous, and it shows! His performance is incredible and the stunts blew my mind. Denver and I kept looking at each other, jaws dropped, especially during the plane scene!
Do I Recommend ‘Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning’?
Yes! 100%! It’s a fun action movie, and no matter how you feel about Cruise, you cannot deny the undeniable talent and guts he has to do the stunts himself. Sure, he’s not the best actor out there, but you’re not watching Mission: Impossible for the acting. You’re there for the action!
Anyway, question for you! Yes, you! If Ethan Hunt and John Wick had to fight to the death, who would win?
